Volunteering Makes a Difference!
We are all part of a team! Volunteering at Sexton Mountain allows you to participate in the school community and be involved in your child's learning process. As a volunteer, you can relieve teachers of many non-teaching duties and tasks, assist teachers in providing more individual help and instruction to students, and strengthen relationships and build a better community.
Volunteering is fun and rewarding - this is your opportunity to give back to the teachers for all they give our kids and forge friendships with other parents at the same time.
If you would like to volunteer at Sexton Mountain, whether in the classroom or for different activities, you MUST be an approved volunteer. See below for instructions on getting started!

Below are repeating sign-ups available throughout the year:
- Passport Club – Monthly on Friday
- Sparky’s Running Club – Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Workroom Help – Tuesdays and Thursdays

✅ Please remember: you must be an approved Volunteer in Raptor. Please do not sign up for shifts if you haven’t received your Raptor approval first. We do check to make sure volunteers who sign up for shifts have completed their Raptor background check. If you sign up and have not been approved in Raptor first, you will NOT be allowed to volunteer. See below for instructions on getting approved as a Volunteer!
Ready to Volunteer?
Remember, all visitors and volunteers - even virtual volunteers - must have an approved background check.
Beaverton School District uses a volunteer management system, Raptor, and all those interested in volunteering must apply (or re-apply). Please make sure you do this as soon as possible to ensure you are approved before an opportunity comes up that you want to help with.
- If you have completed your application, be on the lookout for a confirmation email from Raptor System. This will contain your username and links to setup your account.
- If you have not yet completed your application, please start on the BSD Volunteer webpage on the School District website (under the 'Community' tab and 'Volunteer'). The entire process — including the review of the Child Abuse Prevention & Reporting and Adult Sexual Misconduct training materials — should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
- You'll need to resubmit your application every two years, at which time, another background check will be conducted. You'll receive an email reminder about 30 days in advance.
How to sign up on a desktop computer
On your desktop computer you can find the sign up option in multiple places. It will be on your feed (you can also search if you know the general title), on the right side of the screen under ‘SIGN UPS & RSVPS’, and on the left side of the screen under ‘participate’ then ‘Sign ups & RSVPs’. Click on the opportunity, then click ‘sign up’ and choose a shift before hitting ‘submit’.
How to sign up on a phone in the ParentSquare app
On a mobile phone in the ParentSquare app you will click on ‘more’, then ‘Sign ups & RSVPs’, then under ‘Volunteer’ all opportunities will be listed. Click on the one you want to sign up for. This will show you the available shifts. Next click on the shift you want to sign up for. Lastly click ‘save’ to sign yourself up.
Non-parent Volunteers
You will need to set up a ParentSquare guest account to to have access to volunteer opportunities. Go to the link below to sign up for a guest account. Once you have an account you can follow the instructions above to sign up for volunteer shifts.
