PTC Board Positions Opening in June 2026
The following PTC Board positions are opening up at the end of this school year. If you are looking to get involved or want to help influence activities at SME, this is your chance!
Board positions are generally a two-year term, giving you time to settle in and master the role, and you can elect to renew your elected Board position for one additional two-year term if you'd like.
**Note: the Secretary position is a mid-term opening for 2026-2027.

Treasurer - Our Financial Guardian!

Want to make a big impact at our school and stay connected? The Treasurer role is a great way to do just that!
Do you love a balanced spreadsheet and a clear plan? We’re looking for a Treasurer to help manage the heartbeat of our PTC! This is a highly visible, high-impact role where you’ll track our wins and help set the budget that makes our school events possible. Don’t worry—you don’t need to be an Accountant! If you’re organized and comfortable with basic Excel, we’ll provide the handbook and the training. Plus, our current Treasurer will be around to ensure you have 1-on-1 support for a whole year!
What’s involved:
- Tracking income and expenses and categorizing them (we’ll show you how!)
- Recording transactions in QuickBooks (super user-friendly!)
- Managing teacher reimbursement requests
- Helping set the annual budget (we have a template and clear instructions)
Why it’s not scary:
- You don’t need to be an accountant—just organized, detail oriented, and comfortable with basic Excel tracking tools
- We have a detailed handbook and a smooth process already in place
- Former Treasurer will still be on the Board next year to answer questions and support you

- This is a highly visible role and a fantastic way to contribute to our school community.

Secretary - The Best Seat in the House!

Want to support our students with a commitment of just a few evening hours each month? Join the PTC Board as Secretary – there’s no heavy lifting involved!
Ever wonder how the magic happens behind the scenes at our school? We’re looking for a detail-oriented Secretary to join our Board! This is the perfect "entry-level" leadership role—you’ll keep the official record of our monthly and quarterly meetings and serve as our go-to for bylaws questions. With a commitment of just a few evening hours a month, it’s a low-pressure way to make a high-impact contribution. Come learn the ropes and help shape our school’s future!
What’s Involved:
- Take notes at monthly Board meetings and Quarterly PTC meetings.
- Be the knowledgeable reference to keep us on track with our bylaws.
Why it’s not scary:
- This role is simply about listening and capturing what is said.
- You have seasoned Board members to provide training and support as needed.
Why it’s a great role:
- You’ll gain "insider" knowledge of how our PTC runs.
- This is the perfect stepping stone for future leadership roles!

Spirit Coordinator - Our School's Official Hype Person!

Do you love a good hashtag? Are you the one always capturing the best moments on your phone? We’re looking for a Spirit Coordinator to be our official hype person – the digital voice of our school!
This newly reimagined role is all about the "fun stuff” – managing our social media, celebrating our students' wins, and spreading school spirit far and wide. Help us turn "school updates" into "school celebrations"! If you’re creative and love storytelling, this role is for you!
What’s involved:
- Managing our social media presence - Facebook and Instagram.
- Posting about upcoming events.
- Following-up with pictures and updates after events.
- Encouraging connection and involvement with our students, families and community.
Why it’s not scary:
- This is a no-stress position: you're sharing fun stories and capturing moments for our community to admire!
Why it’s a great role:
- You'll get to know and recognize a lot of the families in our SME Community.
- You'll be able to crowd-source capturing pictures, and pick the best ones to post.
- You'll have flexibility to create content at a time that is convenient for you!
