Enrichment Programs
Each year the PTC provides funding to enrichment programs that occur before, during, and after school. These programs also rely heavily on parent involvement for organization and execution. Look for opportunities to volunteer! Across subject areas and grade levels, Sexton Mountain's enrichment programs allow students to learn and grow outside of the classroom!

Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB)
OBOB is a statewide program that encourages children to read for enjoyment and comprehension. The Oregon Association of School Librarians (OASL) sponsors this program, choosing sixteen books across a variety of genres, interests, and reading levels.
Here’s a link to this year's titles. Please note that OBOB is a voluntary activity, and students do NOT have to read all books to participate.
During the month of October, we’ll start talking about OBOB during library, and 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will start to form teams. Four teammates can take part in a battle, and teams can include up to five players with one serving as an alternate.
Starting in late January/early February, each team will take part in at least two battles in the tournament with the final team representing Sexton Mountain at Regionals in March.

S.T.E.M. Fair
At the SME S.T.E.M. Fair, we celebrate our students' accomplishments in science, technology, engineering, and math! Every student can submit a project, and students of all ages are encouraged to participate.

Passport Club
Students can choose to participate in this monthly challenge to memorize global space. Kids are tested on their knowledge of the world and as they pass each exam, stamps are added to their passport.

Sparky's Running Club
Students can run laps during lunch and log them with Sparky's Running Club. As they complete miles, they work toward the completion of marathons! Kids love getting moving with friends and receiving recognition for their accomplishments.
